Welcome to Magic March!
This month at The Steps to Getting Published, we'll take a look at some literary agents and publishers in the fantasy genre and provide you with writing prompts geared toward fantasy writing. In writing fantasy, there are many elements to consider, including world-building, vast colorful settings, and even fantasy creatures. This is where a writer's imagination can go wild, so we hope this is a genre you’ll attempt at least once in your writing career. It's always fun to see how our characters interact with fantastical creatures and how the magical world our characters are thrust into influences their behavior and their morals.
Below, please find current publishers representing the fantasy genre (more lists to come, including literary agents). Remember, too, that word counts in this genre can go a bit higher, and publishers will allow this for world-building. Please let us know if you have any questions on that, or anything else. We hope March finds you writing magical stories and getting them out into the world!
